A recent Takeuchi TB045 steel track conversion turned into a good example of why careful fitment work matters.
The customer, located in North Carolina, called us because he was done dealing with torn rubber tracks. On paper, the Takeuchi TB045 often points people toward the more traditional 400×72.5x74N rubber track size. His machine, though, was running something different: 400x73x72.
That changed the process. Instead of guessing, we worked through the measurements carefully. We went back and forth by text message, compared the numbers, and made sure we understood exactly what was on the machine before moving ahead with the steel track conversion.
Working Through an Unusual TB045 Track Size
This is where a lot of people can go wrong. A machine may look like it should take one common track size, but the undercarriage setup in the field can tell a different story.

One of the best parts of this sale was that there was no need to swap sprockets, rollers, or idlers.
Everything fit the existing undercarriage correctly.
That is a big win on a conversion like this because it keeps the job simpler, cuts down on extra expense, and helps the customer get back to work faster.
Early Results: Correct Fit and Solid Performance
So far, the customer has put about five hours on the new steel tracks.
That is still early, but it was already enough for him to confirm that the tracks fit well and performed exactly as promised. For this machine, the switch solved the real problem: no more worrying about ripped rubber tracks.
